MKT GP's #226 & #227 separated by road slug #501. This threesome operated system wide as a single unit that was never parted except for heavy maintenance, and had been christened "The Three Stooges" by train crews. The MKT's mechanical department built road slug #501 from wrecked GP40 #222 in 1982 at the Parsons, Kansas shops.

The GP40's are both Atlas factory decorated models, with upgraded details and paint to match these units as they appeared in 1986, the slug is built on an Atlas GP40 frame using Atlas walkways with the body built out of sheet styrene, painted using Modelflex MKT green and decaled with Microscale decals, all weathering was done with oils and powders to match the heavily used but well taken care of mid-80's Katy locomotive fleet.
